The beginning

New year, new goals. With encouragement from friends and family, I am going to try and tackle the business of starting a new business. For this teacher turned stay at home mom, I know I am taking on an endeavor that will stretch me in new ways and I like that challenge. I have the expertise of many family and friends who will help me along the way and already have.

I already make little baby tag blankies for friends with new babies, so I am no stranger to the sewing machine. Sewing is in the genes and if it weren't for my mom's guidance and all that she has taught me, I would never be in this position today. With her help, I have also made my children's bedding and nursery decorations. Other accomplishments on my list include valances for our family room and cushions for our mudroom bench. For Rainbow's Promise, I hope to branch out a little and try my hand at decorative pillows, blankets that can be personalized. Soon I hope you will see pictures of my work here on my blog once I get some projects completed.

As far as the business end of things goes, it was my cousin Heather's boutique in Big Lake MN: The Gifty Chix, that got me thinking I should try selling some of my creations. Not long after I contacted Heather, my good friend Melanie forwarded me some pillow ideas that her daughter and all her friends are really into. The ball was rolling at the end of 2009 as my wheels started turning, thinking of a name for myself as well as the products I will start out with.

The name Rainbow's Promise stems from my forever love of Rainbows and the importance of my own faith and how that plays out in everything I do. It will be a constant reminder for me, as I am making each creation, of God's promise that He is always with us. I hope that the time and love I put into each gift will bring that same message to each person who owns a Rainbow's Promise product.

I am pretty excited about this. Cheers to success and happiness for Rainbow's Promise and all who are touched by these symbols of hope.
